curious, thinking ahead...

I have a lot of header, footer and sidebar customizations on http://www.zakwhite.com/

so when standard 3 releases, and I install it, will that stuff be retained or will i have to start all over?

Thanks!

We have tried to be very open and transparent about this, but it is hard to let every single person know the nitty-gritty details.

Standard 3 is a complete rewrite of the theme from the ground up. Every single line of code is brand new. New id and class names, new markup structure. New, new, new...

So with that said, yes, everything will need to be redone customization wise.

We realize that our users have spent a lot of time making their sites their own and that takes time. But the foundation, features, and quality of Standard 3 are unmatched and worth the upgrade. When you upgrade, if ever, is up to you. You can switch whenever you would like and we will still be here to help with both versions, just like we always have been.

MIchael,

Thanks for the response. Really, the only custom thing I can think of that I will want to do is the random rotating header display, sidebar background transparency and a few images in the footer. Before, I had a guy code it for me. Surely those few things are pretty simple to transfer over / re-code.

Thoughts?

They should be fairly easy to redo, but they will still need to be redone, by hand, all over again.

We will be here to help as much as we can, but I can already sense that we will be swamped with requests for help on customizations.

And just so everyone is completely on the same page here, helping with customizations are lower on the support list than actual support issues. The how and when we answer questions is outlined in the forum guidelines.

Hey guys-- I've tried to find the latest projected release date for Standard 3, but can't seem to find the latest news. Do you know the date, or can you point me to the latest thread? Thank you!

Standard 3 will ship by the end of the month, if it does not kill us first.
